The romantic Waltz is one of the most popular ballroom dances of all time. Considered by some as the “mother of present day dances” and the “backbone dance” of the ballroom, the Waltz is the basis for many dances.
Dr. Morehead enjoy’s all kind of Ballroom dancing. She is dancing the “Mambo” in this dress.
Mambo is a Latin dance of Cuba. Mambo music was invented during the 1930s by Arsenio Rodríguez, developed in Havana by Cachao and made popular by Dámaso Pérez Prado and Benny Moré.

Dr. Morehead went to the Washington Open DanceSport Competition on Thursday, May 2nd. She competed in several different classes.
She wore this dress while doing the “ChaCha”.
As you can tell, ballroom dancing takes alot of practice. We think she is awesome!

Dr. Dawn Morehead’s passion for ballroom dancing began 5 years ago. She has competed here in the States and also abroad. She has always been physically fit but ballroom dancing takes it to another level of fitness. She practices 5 days a week, 1 1/2 hours a day. It takes determination and focus.
We can’t wait to see the pictures from her next competition!
